big day today.
we met up for a leisurely brunch before checking out a potential venue partner — and subsequently falling in love with it.

so much to do in the days ahead, but we’re happy to have a place to call home.

YAY!
this week, we embark on the all-important task of finding a venue partner to house trade school singapore.

we’re lucky to have met some awesome, like-minded people who are willing to open up their space to us.

of course, no meeting is complete without dessert to take us through the long night.

it might surprise many to know that trade school singapore happened as an accident. melissa had gone off to grad school in new york and was first introduced to trade school (new york) by weiyan, who read about them during her thesis (*incidentally, her thesis is on the very intriguing concept of sustainable consumerism).
initially, melissa had planned to volunteer with trade school new york:

but that was also before she decided to quit grad school. by the time december rolled around, she was set on returning to singapore to do “bigger and better” things with her life… and while weiyan and her were toying with the idea, karina stepped in and concretized everything.

so trade school singapore happened. it started over a christmas dinner party, continued through suppers of ice cream, fries, sushi, and noodles, and is still going strong through tech testing, proposal writing, and a severe lack of sleep. our next phase: fundraising, venue sourcing, and emailing potential teachers! what started as a fleeting thought on Facebook is now reality.
ps. we’re also very, very grateful to trade school new york for guiding through this process. all of them are so humble, helpful, and genuinely impressive (seriously, we’re bowled over by their never-ending resumés), and we’re so glad we get to collaborate with such wonderful people who believe in the power of humanity.
